Quotes to support
-""I need to get you a helmet," I said"(217)
In this situation callum had lost his helmet in a earlier fight with humans. He needs the helmet for him to survive the journey. She has put priorities him over her. When she can easily let him die.
-""Would you stop with the crying and just get us food?" I snapped in annoyance. Why must people cry?" (260)
She is yelling at them for not giving them food even with a gun out. She is not killing since she will turn into a standard reboot that kills only for the hunt.
She has a sense where most people can see themselves like her. In a place where others treat each other like monsters. Where being different is not ok. In this universe everyone view reboots as monster.
I think the symbolism in this book is the reboots themselves. In our society adults view the teenager and children as spoiled brats. But how will we keep going if they know we're going to be turn into mindless workers in a dead end job. The escape in the books shows that your place is not by others who think they know you. But the action you put upon yourself to stride the hardships and move on.
The setting I infer is showing a place where only the privileged will stride in life. Anyone else lower then you is nothing. Such as our society. Where everyone is in a place staying in it because of there not having a future.
In conclusion, Being different is ok. No matter your past. She thinks if tho life and death are two different things and the same. She looks at the pain and suffering around as fuel for her. The pain will continue to her graves if she continued to be a mindless drone for H.a.r.c or in real world society. She accepted who her past is. Change it for her death will not be dying as a forgettable but a reborn.
